Charles F. Merritt

Charles F. Merritt, aged 53, of Hinkley, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Friday October 18, 2024. He previously lived in Avon Lake, Ohio.

Charles was born August 22, 1971 in Ossining, NY, and was the son of Charles (Buddy) Merritt and Teresa (Murphy) Merritt. 

He was baptized at Holy Rosary Church in Thornwood, NY.  Charlie attended elementary school at Holy Rosary Elementary as well as Columbus Elementary which were also in Thornwood. He graduated from Westlake High School in 1989 then went on to attend college at Carnegie Mellon School of Music. There he studied Instrumental Performance and was a member of the Pi Lambda Phil (Beta Xeta Chapter) Fraternity. Charlie spent 9 years in the Navy as an Electronics Engineer, where he also worked on Salvage Ships and took pride in earning his Shellback Certification. 

On June 1 2008 Charlie married his beloved wife, Ila V. Merritt. 

Charlie loved spending time listening to music and his favorite band was Rush. He loved playing drums, cooking with his wife, taking his boys to BMX races and the gun range. 

Charlie was employed at Brookfield Properties where he worked as a Senior Network Engineer. 

Charlie is proceeded in death by his father Charles (Buddy) Merritt and his mother Teresa Merritt.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years Ila, two loving children, Charles Francis Merritt Jr. (17) & Lincoln Clay Merritt (10), and his brother Daniel Merritt 48 of Hawthorne NY.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
