Laura Miller, of Northfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully in the hospital on Sunday, December 29th, surrounded by the love of her partner Brian Hart, daughter Nicole Ortenzi, and daughter-in-law Samantha Ortenzi, as well as the daughters she loved as if they were her own, Kristen Kuhn and Catherine Williams.
Born on April 28, 1964, in Lakewood, Ohio, Laura embraced life with hilarious shenanigans, generosity, and a passion for others. She was the beloved spouse of Brian Hart and the cherished mother of Nicole Ortenzi (Samantha). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Madison and Derek, who adored her deeply.
Laura was a devoted sister to Jeff (Sue) Miller, Danny Miller, the late Gregory Miller, Mark Miller, Shirlee Dowden, and Ryan Miller. She was the daughter of the late Gerald Miller and Joanne Urban, with Robert Urban as her caring stepfather. She also had a loving mother-in-law, Wanda Hart.
A talented chef and baker, Laura was known for her incredible cooking, which she shared with friends and family at every opportunity. Her home was often filled with laughter, delicious food, and love, especially during her legendary Halloween parties and gingerbread house-making nights with her grandchildren and friends. She also loved to thrift, always on the hunt for thoughtful little gifts for everyone she cared about.
Laura shared special friendships that were filled with laughter, adventure, and love. She cherished her Dunkin’ runs and camping trips with her best friend Colleen, plant shopping and traveling with Lisa, baking and playing cards with Suzy, phone calls and camping adventures with Jill, who was like a sister to her, and spending time with her friend Pam Wilms, with whom she enjoyed concerts and shared many laughs. She also rekindled her high school friendship with Fran, and together they loved reminiscing about their mischievous days in school. These friendships were a cornerstone of Laura’s life and a testament to her loyalty and warmth.
Laura was a best friend to many, always offering a kind ear and a generous heart. She found peace and happiness in the outdoors, making camping a cherished tradition in her life. Her loyal companions, Roxy and Kit-Kat, will feel her absence deeply.
Laura’s legacy lives on in the love she gave, the memories she created, and the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew her.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be held on Sunday, January 12th, at Cantina en la Ocho from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. In honor of Laura’s vibrant and colorful spirit, the family requests that everyone wear tie-dye
