It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of the late Marva Elaine Gammons, born December 30, 1946, who captured her wings on March 18, 2025. She was an extraordinary woman whose indomitable spirit and fierce love for her family will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
A spark-fire of a woman, Elaine was dynamic and sociable, with a caring heart. Every interaction with her was meaningful. Her opinionated yet dedicated nature made her an unwavering pillar of strength for those she held dear. Her loyalty was unshakable, creating bonds that lasted a lifetime. She was a woman who believed in education and its transforming power. Her faith in this ideology was a lesson she shared generously with all who knew her.
Elaine leaves behind a rich legacy of empowerment. Her incessant desire to help others, especially those struggling with unemployment and those in need, was a testament to her kindness. She found her greatest joy in celebrating the successes of those she helped.
Elaine's enduring love for her family was paramount. She is survived by her loving daughter, Marva Charmaine Gammons, her step-son, Gary Gammons, her granddaughters, Sackayla Smith and Symone Smith, and her grandson, Kishon McDonald. Elaine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Gammons, and her step-son, Chris Gammons. She is also survived by her brother, Harry Terrell, and was predeceased by her brothers Charles Jr Terrell, Lonnie Paul Terrell, Melvin Terrell, James Terrell, Lester Terrell, Leslie Dale Terrell and by her sisters Fannie Terrell, Marvalene Terrell, Annette Cole, Mandy Petty, Wanda Terrell, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A devoted grandmother, Marva's greatest accomplishment were her grandchildren whom she cherished. Her abiding love and dedication will remain as an eternal beacon of light in their lives.
A Funeral service in honor of Marva will be held on April 3, 2025, at 10AM at Gesu Catholic School. A reception will follow at 4:00 PM at the Killingsworth Meeting Place at 4131 E 131st St. As we bid farewell to this exceptional woman, we keep her alive in our hearts and memories. Forever missed, Marva Elaine Gammons.
